Advanced image classification and interpretation of geographic imagery for sophisticated feature extraction

Trimble eCognition® is an innovative software used to extract qualitative information from an image, imitating the cognitive abilities of the human mind. The possibilities are endless.

Trimble GeoSpatial® is the world leader in automated geodata analytics, effective at any scale, from large-scale drone imagery to satellite imagery spanning entire continents.

eCognition® software allows you to extract information from geographical image data based on algorithms referring to the process of human perception. This is the so-called object-oriented analysis, in which objects separated in the image segmentation process are analyzed. In addition to the radiometric, statistical and geometric features of objects, the software allows you to take into account the relationships between them in image analysis.

The user selects the detail of image segmentation depending on the type of input data and the purpose of the resulting data. The segmented image creates a database of objects and is the basis for classification. Its algorithm is created individually by the user in the form of a convenient decision tree, intuitively presented in the GUI as a set of steps of the entire workflow.

The advantage of the program is the ability to add other data to the analyses, e.g. DTM/DSM, existing vector layers, and include them in the classification decision tree.

Advanced classification methods based on, among others, on neural networks make the application an irreplaceable tool for image analysis, the very accurate results of which can be easily implemented in any GIS environment thanks to the possibility of exporting to vector form.

Trimble eCognition® software is used by GIS professionals, remote sensing experts and data analysts around the world to automate the interpretation of geospatial imagery data and easily create thematic layers.
