BAMS-Mazovia

Built-up Areas Monitoring Service for Mazovia

GEOSYSTEMS Polska is starting the implementation of the BAMS-Mazovia project (Build-up Areas Monitoring Service for Mazovia). Its main goal is to develop a platform providing data on spatial changes taking place in built-up areas.

The proposed tool will operate based on automated classifications of Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. High level of detail in the results provided by the website will be ensured by the use of multi-temporal data series covering the examined period, as well as classification procedures developed at CBK PAN.

The website created as part of the project will use the results of the classification of satellite data and, based on their comparison with the information contained in existing databases, such as the Database of Topographic Objects – BDOT, it will enable automatic identification of changes that have appeared in the development of the studied area. Through its operation, the platform being built will enable faster updating of databases and will allow for the reduction of data maintenance and management costs.

Research work in the BAMS-Mazovia project will cover the area of the Masovian Voivodeship. Nevertheless, the indirect goal of the project is to develop data analysis methods and prepare tools for their processing, which can be used in areas of other voivodeships.

The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of GEOSYSTEMS Polska Sp. z o. o. (project leader) and the Earth Observation Department of the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

More information about the project can be found on the website of the European Space Agency.
